  2. I haven’t bought any YET but my Kiddies have been begging for them and this is EXACTLY what I’ve been thinking…aren’t they just tiny little colored rubber bands? LMBO

My son wants them too! I’m thinking, Didn’t we go through this with the Silly Bandz a few years ago? Jeez! My house is being overtaken by expensive kid crap!

  3. And Michael’s won’t accept their 40% off coupon for the darn things! I made my son buy his own – it’s exactly this kind of crap that his allowance is for :)

  4. Ummm…..I think I accidentally bought this for my daughter for her birthday. Ack!! Should I return it before she sees it?? I’m not even sure where the receipt is!! Maybe I’ll just save it for me niece…since I *love* my sister-in-law so much. Please advise!

  5. Ha! So true! And speaking of Michael’s Craft Store — don’t even get me started on the boatload of cash I drop every time my daughter has a school project! She LOVES that place! And finds a million things she simply MUST have for that school project — I swear it’d be cheaper if I just slipped her teacher a $20 dollar bill and BOUGHT an A! But nooooo, my daughter would much rather spend $38 to CREATE! What the heck’s wrong with that child! Jeez, the kids today! (eye roll) (sigh)

  6. I see this in my not-so-distant future and it terrifies me! Right now my four-year old is leaving tiny scraps of paper all over the house from the industrial size box of foam stickers my mother bought for her birthday. Not only am I finding the sticker backing all over the place, I’m also finding amputated frog legs and butterfly wings stuck in the strangest places. Gee, thanks Gran!

  7. That’s exactly what my dining room looks like right now! My daughter bought her Rainbow Loom with her birthday money, but she’s going to need more rubber bands soon…as my husband says, “That’s how they getcha!”

Exactly! It’s like the old razor ploy — they give you the razor, but then you’re on the hook for the blades!

  8. Just had this talk with the boy this morning, “Mom, I need (need!) yellow, blue, white, black and yellow bands.”
Me: “Um…this is coming out of your money because that is a crazy number of rubber bands.”

The thing is, he DOES use the Loom and it’s the first craft/fine motor thing he’s taken to, so I’m happy to support the obsession on some level…

Hey! Thanks so much for stopping by! I love how kids perceive “need.” We have the same convo in our house too. And I gotta say, I’d support the RL obsession if it got my boy away from the video games for a bit. At least THAT requires a little cognitive input! Thanks again for joining us. Come back soon!

  9. LOL– my youngest just got a few of those bands at church preschool. Hope he doesn’t get hooked!

  10. And the worst part is….. I wind up making more of them then he does, he starts one and then decides it’s too hard but he REALLY wants to give it to someone so could I PLEASE finish it for him?
BTW I’m wearing one right now.

That sounds like the time Jessica tried making Valentine’s Day cards with her son. He did four … she did the rest! Read about it here.
