We would not have been in Cincinnati or had the opportunity to work with Boogie Wipes if not for the amazingly generous Anna Luther of MyLifeandKids.com. We met Anna at our first BlogHer conference in 2013, when she was a contributor to the hugely successful anthology I Just Want to Pee Alone. We were such baby bloggers at the that point and total fangirls of that book and the contributors, we were stalking the group throughout the weekend just hoping to touch the hems of their garments …
By the next year, Anna had helped put together BlogU a new blogging conference started by some of the contributors in that book who saw a need for a conference that was more intimate and focused on the early stages of blogging. because Anna is a Pinterest guru, she had been tapped to teach a Pinterest session, which Norine took, claiming it was the most valuable session she had been to all year.
ANYWAY, when we first came up with the idea to create a sponsorship pitch for our book tour, Anna was one of the first people I wanted to show. I knew she had been very successfully working with brands as a consultant for a few years and if anyone could show us the ropes it was Anna. Little did I know that just then she was consulting for Boogie Wipes and that they were looking to develop a house-party model to share their product across the U.S. The timing could not have been better. Serendipity, baby!
Jump ahead a few months and not only has Anna managed our partnership with Boogie Wipes but she has also offered to host her own house party while we are in town with her local friends. I KNOW. We packed up some goody bags and the big banner and headed north!
We had such a great time that night, not surprisingly Anna’s family and friends are so nice and so much fun. I told my husband we should move to Cincinnati, at which point he made one thousand WKRP jokes. I’m not sure if that counts as a hard no or not.
For those of you who have followed Anna for years you know she’s got style for days, and her house is a perfect testament to not only that but also her fun personality (and her Pinterest addiction). I think my favorite spot was the bathroom, which had been papered over in a very painters-canvas type paper and everyone was invited to write or draw whatever the hell they wanted in there.
Most ridiculous moment: Watching Norine try to manage 2 giant bags and the Boogie Wipes banner case at 4am on the way to the airport for our insanely early flights. That thing cost $150(!!) to check because we were over the 2 bag limit and hadn’t paid ahead of time. OH MY GOD.
Favorite moment: Hanging out with Anna, her uncle and husband, and her recently transplanted brother and sister-in-law after the party. Her brother who had been at the Nehemiah event earlier that day admitted to us that he was certain he was going to HATE the event. He figured it would be way too mom-ish for him. However, he’s a marine biologist so he totally got the science references in the book and ended up having a great time. Ha!
